I wasn't planning on posting today but rather waiting another week until my doctor tells me exactly how far along I am! The ultrasound tech told me I he thought I was farther along but today I realized I never got around to posting last weeks so I am posting two this week and will fast-forward next week if I skip a week or so once the doctor tells me....I would like to mention I FINALLY felt the baby kick! Monday March 26th. It happened in bed as I rolled from one side to another. The first kick I think my heart stopped and I thought, "wait, what? Was that the baby?" and then I waited and not soon after I felt it again. It was hard to think of words to describe it but I will say it DID NOT feel like butterflies, as everyone has told me. It felt more like a flick you would give with your finger but from the inside. I have since felt it two more times both of these times have been when my laptop is sitting on my lap, I am now wondering if I should make sure it rests on my legs and not on the baby at all for fear of too much heat or weight..... I also had an alarming and life halting feeling lower then normal. I called Candice (pretty late at night) and she diagnosed it as the baby having hiccups. All I have to say is when I first feel something the feelings I get are not joyous, THIS KID IS GOING TO KILL MY NERVES! I get pretty nervous and then realize, it is OKAY! :)
Cravings: Sweets! This is the first time I have really had a sweet tooth! I am serious! I had some sort of sweet every day and then maybe every night, strawberries and cheesecake, chocolate turtle pie, Sunday Conference I made blackberry, rasberry and blueberry pie (don't get to proud it was frozen one), and I taught Victor the true meaning of Vanilla milkshake and I think we had one for 3-4 nights in a row! I am not thinking the doctor will give me a pleasing weight next week. It won't be the great, "Leslie, you're doing wonderful, You only gained 1/2 a pound this whole month." It will mostlikely be something along the lines of "slow down sister!" :)
Aversions: I am doing pretty good! I actually tried peanut butter today and managed to keep it down and THAT is saying a lot because I seriously could just think of peanut butter or NUTS in general and would gag.
T.M.C: 20 Weeks: Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom, and about 10 inches from head to heel. (For the first 20 weeks, we use measurements taken from the top of the baby's head to her bottom — known as the "crown to rump" measurement. After that, we use measurements from head to toe. This is because a baby's legs are curled up against his torso during the first half of pregnancy and are very hard to measure.) A greasy white substance called vernix caseosa coats his entire body to protect his skin during its long submersion in amniotic fluid. (This slick coating also eases the journey down the birth canal.) Your baby is swallowing more, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky substance that's the result of cell loss, digestive secretion, and swallowed amniotic fluid. This meconium will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first messy diaper (although a few babies pass it in utero or during delivery).
21 Weeks: Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long. His eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed. And you can certainly feel him move. He's oblivious to your schedule, though, so don't be surprised if he starts working out just when you're settling down for the night.
