We had our first doctors appointment on December 20th! Nerve racking until the appointment. After long awaited time (the doctor had to leave to deliver a baby at the hospital) we got into our appointment and filled out all the paperwork. Some of the questions they asked were quite funny... I asked Victor the questions I thought he'd like: (1) Are you and the baby's father related (i.e cousins, siblings or otherwise related). NO! (2) Has your partner been with another male within the last 12 months? At that point Victor said stop asking me those questions (we were sitting in a full waiting room. I thought it was funny!
After the doctor got back we got to go in and at the end of the appointment we got to have an ultrasound. There on the screen was a very small little baby with an even smaller heart beat! But the heartbeat was visible!!! YIPPEEE!
Cravings: Bread and Cheese
Aversions: Seafood, this is truly sad for me! Before being pregnant I LOVED crab!!! It was my favorite food! Now the thought of it pains me!
Symptoms: Nausea, Really Tired and Emotional
Baby Colin: Now almost half an inch long - roughly the size of a raspberry — your baby has elbow joints and distinct, slightly webbed fingers and toes. In his oversized head, both hemispheres of his brain are developing. His teeth and the inside of his mouth are forming, and his ears continue to develop. Eyelid folds partially cover his tiny peepers and the tip of that nose you'll be tweaking someday is emerging. His skin is paper-thin, and his veins are clearly visible. Your little one also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. His liver is busy producing red blood cells, and a loop of your baby's growing intestines is bulging into his umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from his tiny body. Your baby still appears to have a small tail (actually, it's an extension of his tailbone), but it will disappear in the next few weeks.
You can't feel his gyrations yet, but your little jumping bean is moving in fits and starts around his watery home.
